Firehouse Hostel is one of the only hostels located in the central downtown part of Austin. It's walking distance to many great venues and restaurants and is just around the corner from the famous 6th street, which is known for its nightlife and live music scene. If you plan to head out on the town, this is the perfect place to base yourself.
As its name implies, the Firehouse Hostel is located in an old fire station that dates back to 1885. It's a locally owned hostel that is managed by travelers for travelers. It originally opened in 2013 and has become one of the largest hostels in Texas, with space for more than 70 people.
The hostel offers all of the standard amenities including a free breakfast every morning, free wi-fi throughout, luggage storage, and 24 hour a day reception service. This is a fun and social place to stay where it's easy to meet other travelers. The Firehouse Lounge is attached to the hostel and you can hang out there, try locally brewed beers, and listen to live music.
The hostel has both private rooms and dorms available. Private rooms have space for up to four people and you can choose between shared bathrooms and en-suite. Dorms sleep four, six, or eight people and male only, female only, and co-ed rooms are available.
